Why choose Through the Woods therapy counselling in Newcastle?

At Through the Woods, I understand how daunting it can be to come to therapy for the first time. I myself, have been on a journey of therapy for many of my own challenges in the past. I work with adults and children and have experience of working with clients presenting with many issues including stress management, group therapy, OCD, Eating disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Self Harm. This is why I completely understand the range of emotions when you first start therapy. I am here to make you feel safe and at ease and provide a welcoming, lovely space for you to explore your challenges. I want you to be engaged in your healing journey, we walk side by side with each other in this.

Holistic in my approach and how I live, I am forward thinking. Talking to a therapist can help you to understand yourself and why you feel like you do, focusing on positive, forward solutions. Your mind is not separate to everything else, it is intrinsically connected to your body, hence I work with mind, body and soul. Research clearly shows that there is a clear link between your brain and your body. This is why my methods keep this in mind. I help you get a deeper understand of your challenges. I listen and together we devise a plan and a way forward to reach your desired outcome. Types of psychotherapy and psychological methods used, range from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques) and Mindfulness. We work with the thoughts and thought patterns you may be having, and your body through breath work and focussed attention to help with managing depression and managing anxiety as well as creating mental wellness. Often our challenges are due to a negative, self-destructing thought cycle we have fell into and it is about recognizing this and breaking the patterns in order to heal.

Offering virtual therapy sessions, online therapy or face to face, we will work with each other to plan, implement and review your recovery journey in which you will be fully supported by myself. I review our work regularly so that we know we are heading in the right direction. Our sessions are a great way to explore issues but it is also what happens outside of these sessions that will make a difference. Therefore I make sure that you have work to concentrate on in order to continue to grow, learn and get better. I work to understand you as a person. A natural empath means I can understand what it is like for you and how desperate you feel sometimes, just to get your life back. How unfair it all seems and how you just want to be happy. I am there for it all and will show up for you every session we have together in the healing process.

Patient confidentially is key to therapy outcomes so that you feel safe to open up and talk about your emotional disorders.

What I offer

I offer a FREE 10 minute consultation to go over your concerns and make sure we are a good fit. I like to start our journey with a phone call to discuss what your struggles are, how long you have been suffering or experiencing them, anything you have tried and tell you a little about my history and who I am. This is a good way to start developing our relationship and learn a little about each other so that you can decide if this is for you. Please book this in by getting my details from the contact page and contacting me via phone, email or instagram.

I aim to respond within 48 hours of your enquiry Mon – Fri. I am fairly flexible in response.

Life can be hectic. You are probably only free at certain times. I offer flexible hours and try to suit your needs. Including occasional offers of weekend appointments. I have a client base already but always try to see when you are available and work around that. I do occasional Saturday and Sunday appointments and also more flexible if we are having an online session.

If I am seeing you in person, there is great bus links to my practise from Newcastle and Wallsend. I also offer free parking right near my practise. My practise is also based in a very private area. Setting up my private practise meant I could cater for you as my client. I understand parking is crucial as is transport links. I also was able to create a lovely space for you to feel welcomed and comfortable.

I offer a thorough intake session. This allows me to understand all your concerns before we have our first session. This also means we are not wasting any time in your first session going over all the details. I will have them already. This is including history and background where we will work together to plan goals and intervention options. I send out a questionnaire to see where you are in your journey. Of course you do not have to fill this in. If you would like to just come along to your first session then this is also fine. This is for you an to help with treatment plans and psychological healing.

You will find a private and confidential space to ensure your privacy, that’s a relaxing and calming place where you can share your challenges. This is your time and I am here for you. I offer a confidential space for you to open up about all your concerns and struggles. I will use all this information to formulate a plan to get you to where you want to be.

We can do this….together.
