Energy Psychology

Energy Psychology is a fantastic tool to use for many issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias and more. It is the process of working with energy centres in the body known as meridian centres.

Everything is energy, and we need to work with energy in order to heal.

The body keeps score, is an amazing book to read to understand how traumas and experiences can be stored in the body so that when we are working with the mind, we also need to work with the body in order to fully heal from the issues we are experiencing.

Energy psychology is a relatively new method of therapy combining Eastern approaches to the mind and body with Western psychology and psychotherapy ideas.

There are a number of techniques that we can use. EFT also known as tapping, is a great technique to begin to work with memories, beliefs, phobias or thoughts that are bothering you. EFT combines exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and energy points by first looking at the source of your anxiety (the "exposure" part), accepting (the "cognitive" part), and the "set-up statement" is repeated as you tap pressure points to release the tension.

While further research on energy psychology is still needed, this approach has been used to treat a number of different conditions. Some of the uses that are being explored include the treatment of:

Anxiety

Chronic pain

Depression

Phobias

Stress

Trauma

Grief

It is accessible, brief and something that gives control to the client as they can be using it in their own time. If anyone is interested in looking more at this or experiencing it for themselves please get in touch!
